Internal Medicine Point-of-care Ultrasound: DVT, Lung and Cardiac

The South Australian Association of Internal Medicine and Adelaide Health Simulation present this 2-day course.

What you’ll learn

Perfect for clinicians keen to start their POCUS journey or improve their skills. Learn the fundamentals of ultrasound operation and how to use thoracic ultrasound in your patients with dyspnoea and shock. This course combines interactive learning with ample live scanning to give you confidence in:

• proximal DVT ultrasound: the ideal application for learning “knobology” and image optimisation.
• lung ultrasound: understand the ultrasound appearance of major lung pathology: interstitial syndrome, infection, pneumothorax and effusion.
• focussed cardiac ultrasound: learn how to obtain parasternal, apical and subcostal windows to examine the pericardium, assess ventricular function and look for significant valve lesions; and how to examine the IVC.

Emphasising:

• the required psychomotor skills: building from DVT US to acquiring the probe manipulations needed for cardiac windows.
• how to confidently interpret imagery and pitfalls.
• clinical integration of findings.
